As the sun rose, homeless-service workers and volunteers trolled the back alleys, nooks and crannies and woods of Omaha and Council Bluffs where homeless people usually are found. The workers counted them as part of an annual tally required by the federal government. This year’s count is still being tallied.

Anyone who decided to go against the grain with their golf betting last week and wager on someone other than Tiger Woods to win the Buick Invitational probably regretted that decision fairly quickly.
